Morning Pause ‘n Tea is your weekly reminder to pause. So many of us run on the “GO GO GO” mode until our bodies and minds just can’t any more. This newsletter is here to be that friendly nudge for you (and me!) to pause, have a cup of tea and just be. Morning Pause ‘n Tea is packed with pause reminders, musings, interviews, breath work, mindful movement, meditations and essays.

Welcome to Morning Pause ‘n Tea written by me, Tess Jewell-Larsen. The world can be an overwhelming place. From my own experience, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind that is our modern-day push culture and forget about the importance of taking time for yourself, finding ease and releasing the stress and tension that we hold—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I had a pretty major burnout (panic attacks, debilitating back injury and persistent pain, major mood swings…) that peaked in 2020. Since then I have spent the last few years learning how to best support myself from going back into those spiraling depths of burnout.

One of the most valuable and important things I’ve learned from my healing journey is it’s not about big changes. True healing comes from the small moments of pause, learning to re-connect with my mind and body, and being able to notice the red flag moments so I can better meet myself where I am to find true balance and ease.

That’s where this newsletter is born. I want to share the tools I have learned (and continue to learn!) with you. Personally, I could have majorly benefited from a weekly reminder to pause and come back to myself. A reminder to rest and release. A reminder that firing at all cylinders—all the time—isn’t beneficial for me, for my work or for my family and community around me.

Morning Pause ‘n Tea includes…

Weekly Pause reminders that will be sent out on Mondays to explore different ways to show up for yourself no matter what season you’re living. One size doesn’t fit all and it doesn’t always fit us either.

Weekend edition that will be sent out on Saturdays, filled with extra goodness to inspire you to pause and give back to yourself.

Meditations to find a sense of calm, peace and balance which in turn benefits your mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Mindful breathwork and movement to [re]establish a mind-body connection and release pent-up tension and stress stored in the body.

Recipes to inspire your tastebuds and enhance your well-being.

Interviews to explore people’s own journeys, pause moments and things they wish they’d known earlier on.

Essays and musings about life—the good, the bad, the everything in between.

As a free subscriber (thank you for being here!) you will get the weekly Monday Morning Pause ‘n Tea newsletters and have access to them for one week.

As a paid subscriber (thank you so much!) you will get access to both the Monday Morning Pause ‘n Tea newsletters plus the Weekend Edition, meditations, mindful movement and breath work, recipes, Tea with Tess interviews, essays and more.

Also as a paid subscriber, you’ll have access to and be a part of the comments and community of this newsletter. I’ve thought long and hard about this, and I know from experience that showing up for ourselves isn’t always easy. And those pause moments seem pretty easy in theory, but the reality of taking action on a consistent basis can be much more difficult. Being a part of the community can give you the accountability that you need to take those pause moments, but also the security to do it in a supportive environment.

If you’re able to become a paid subscriber, you will not only gain access to all Morning Pause ‘n Tea offers, but you will also help keep me afloat and create access for others. If you would love a paid subscription but cannot afford one, please email me at morningpausentea@substack.com. If you’d like to sponsor a reader, you can do so by donating a subscription or gifting one.

About me, Your Host…

I live in my adopted home on the north coast of Spain in the principality of Asturias. (Please don’t think hot sun and dry landscape… Asturias is known as the Green Coast for a reason!) I’m originally from Oregon, USA, but I’ve lived here for over a decade now. I am a Yoga Therapist, Stress & Burnout Coach and Somatic Healer. I dedicate most of my time to being a guide and resource for people through various seasons of their life to find balance, ease and thrive no matter what comes their way. I specialize in stress, burnout, pain care and women’s health (like pre/postnatal and pelvic health). I do this one-on-one and through my monthly membership in my online studio, TytoniYoga.com.

I absolutely love writing and find solace in the written word in its various forms. My writing has appeared in OM Magazine, Hip & Healthy Magazine, Elephant Journal, Therapy Directory and more.

I have also had the pleasure to be a guest on podcasts like The Connected Yoga Teacher, Coaching in Session, Ask Yourself Why Not, Curate Your Health with Dr. Heather Hammerstedt, and many more. Click here to find out more.
